Using Your Vanilla Syrup For More Than Just Drinks
ShareIf you own a restaurant that serves high end coffee beverages, then you likely have some syrups that allow you to add flavor to the drinks. Vanilla syrup is one of the most popular and delicious. While the syrup can be used exclusively for beverages, it can be used for cooking purposes as well. Keep reading to learn about a few things you should conjure up.
Homemade Whipped Cream
Mocha and hot chocolate drinks are simply not complete without the whipped cream. While a store bought cream is delicious, a homemade recipe can add decadence to your coffees. When you add some vanilla syrup to the cream, then you can turn the concoction into a dessert of its own.
Most recipes call for whipping cream as well as sugar to make the whipped cream. You can substitute the syrup for the sugar or you can cut the sugar in half and mix it with the syrup. You will need to place the syrup and the sugar in your bowl first. Add the whipping cream when you are done, and then use a metal whisk to whisk the ingredients. You want to do this until the cream forms stiff peaks when you lift the mixing tool out of the bowl.
Regular vanilla syrup can add a unique flavor to your cream. If you want a richer, nuttier flavor, then try some vanilla amaretto syrup or even a caramel vanilla variety.
Sugar Cookies
If you have sugar cookies to complement your coffee drinks, then you may want to try adding some of your vanilla syrup to the cookies. While you can find recipes that use vanilla syrup, you can simply modify your own favorite sugar cookie recipe. If you do this, keep in mind that vanilla syrup is quite sweet. You should use the syrup in place of your vanilla extract. You also should cut the sugar content of your cookies by about one-half or one-third. If you want to experiment, then think about making a few half batches of cookies to see which combination of sugar and syrup is best.
Also, use a dab of the syrup in cookies that call for nuts. The syrup is also a good addition to banana bread, oatmeal cookies, french toast, coffee cake, and tarts. The syrup can also be used in place of the vanilla used to make homemade ice cream.
If your restaurant uses vanilla syrup for drinks, then now is the time to start branching out and using the ingredient for whipped cream and other sweet treats.
