Are You Hosting A Mexican Event?
ShareAre you hosting a Mexican-themed event? Perhaps you are having a quinceniera party for your daughter, or maybe even a wedding celebration. Maybe there's a special birthday or an anniversary that you are hosting. Whatever the event, if you are planning an event with a Mexican theme, from planning the meal to planning the entertainment, here are some ideas that might help you to host a fun and memorable event.
The Meal - Of course, you can choose something very traditional for your Mexican fiesta, and your guests will more than likely be thrilled for that type of feast. Traditional foods like enchiladas, tamales and fajitas served with all the fixings like charro beans, Mexican rice and guacamole will surely be well received. However, consider having something different, too. For example, talk to a Ver-Mex meat distributor who can provide you with chorizo meat. Use that meat to create delicious foods that your guests will more than likely devour. For example, consider having a mixture of scrambled eggs and chorizo served in huge flour tortillas. Another idea is to prepare migas with corn tortillas, eggs, and chorizo meat. Tell your meat supplier how many guests you are expecting and he or she will have the experience to recommend how much chorizo meat you will need.
The Entertainment - Music! Music! Music! From dancing to having a mariachi band to serenade the honored guest, Mexican music will surely be the base for the entertainment at your Mexican-themed event. Is there a Mexican dancing performing group that would come to your event? There might even be a dance school that would provide young dancers to perform traditional dances of Mexico. And, if you want to add some extra fun to your event, consider having somebody lead your group in a Tex-Mex line dance. If you are honoring somebody older, perhaps a birthday celebration or a fiftieth wedding celebration, consider having songs that were made famous by entertainers like Agustin Lara or Trio Los Panchos. A sing-along of Mexican songs would be fun, too. Think of asking somebody to play the guitar or the piano to accompany your group.
Don't forget the Mexican-themed decorations. Use lots of bright colors. For example colorful paper flowers along with hand painted pottery birds and pewter, brass or black wrought iron candelabras would be great for the main table, with smaller versions of those combinations on individual tables.
